Hoxton Window Project: L Devine

Play video

This month’s Hoxton Window Project featured a special collaboration between two artists, illustrator Chloe Victoria Hughes and her friend L Devine, a singer and songwriter represented by Warner Bros. Records UK. Chloe, who is the founder of feminist platform Babe U OK?, designed  L Devine’s first lyric video and covered our windows in artwork inspired by it. The project supports the release of L Devine’s first single, “School Girls.”

While the lyrics of the song focus on how fraught with drama female friendships can be, Chloe and L Devine wanted the Hoxton Window Project to convey a more positive message. Lighthearted and colourful illustrations are dotted across the windows; you can see drawings of a “bitch repellent” spray, a series of broken hearts and text messages, an ice cream and more.

The two artists were excited to collaborate because it supported not just the release of L Devine’s single but also provided a way to promote Chloe’s site Babe U OK?, which is an online community educating young women about sexual and mental health, amongst other topics to do with growing up and being  a teenager. You can check it out here. And you can listen to L Devine’s new single, “School Girls” here.
