Slim Jim: Meataverse

The background

Slim Jim wanted to do something fun and irreverent with emerging technologies that was accessible to everyone, regardless of of their web3 credentials. So we created their first-ever digital membership club – the Slim Jim Meataverse.

The execution

The Meataverse is a free, first-of-its-kind web3-based digital membership club and interactive collectible NFT experience. At launch, we distributed over 10,000 randomised NFTs—10,069, to be exact—called GigaJims to members on a first-come, first-served basis.

Members of the Meataverse can evolve their GigaJim by applying S.A.U.C.E. (the currency of the Meataverse), which is generated by scanning Slim Jim products, participating in challenges, and engaging with Slim Jim on social media. A GigaJim will gain different features and accessories based on the S.A.U.C.E. combination the user applies. Features and accessories have varying levels of rarity, which enables users to change their GigaJim over time to make it more unique and compete for the highest rarity score on the member leaderboard. There are over 10 million possible combinations of Gigajims to discover!

We had a lot of fun with this one – from designing each separate component of the Gigajim characters, to getting playful world-building the retro-feel digital environments of the Meataverse Lab.

We designed the Meataverse to be accessible to people who have no prior experience owning NFTs or a crypto wallet, as well as seasoned collectors in the web3 community. Our seamless end-to-end blockchain experience delivers a fully automated, frictionless user experience without a steep learning curve. The web3 experience is driven by a custom-built API that mints and evolves GigaJims directly on the Polygon blockchain for free.

The results

The Meataverse is the perfect combination of sophisticated tech and super-fun
content. Gigajims were snapped up at launch, with some advanced users already connecting their own crypto wallet and trading their NFTs on the open marketplace.

And this first phase of the Meataverse is just the beginning. We’ve developed our platform and mechanics to be expanded easily into future releases – watch this space.
